Tips for Lighting Marabu Charcoal in a Kamado:

  1. Preparation – Open the lid, remove the grill, and fill the Kamado with charcoal up to the round air vents (without exceeding the charcoal basket).
  2. Lighting – Fully open the top and bottom air vents, create a small indent in the charcoal, and place 2-3 natural fire starters inside. After a few minutes, cover the fire starters with more charcoal and close the lid.
  3. Reaching the Desired Temperature – Allow the Kamado to heat up to 150°C, then place the grill and accessories. To control the temperature, adjust the air vents: more open = higher temperature.
  4. Start Grilling – When the thermometer reads between 150-200°C, you’re ready to start cooking.
  5. Extinguishing and Reuse – After grilling, fully close the air vents. The fire will extinguish, and the charcoal can be reused for your next cookout.

Extra Tip: Heating takes about 20 minutes. A 0.5 cm adjustment of the air vents is the most common setting for maximum temperature control.
