1 L dark green olive oil tin (1008 pieces)

1 L dark green olive oil tin (1008 pieces)

Container for foodstuffs intended to contain olive oil and extra-virgin olive oil, equipped with a carrying handle.

The tins are made of white latten coated with a layer of tin which has the function of protecting foodstuffs from chemical alterations. This material is the most used worldwide for packaging canned foods, to store food products, as the metal used is inert and non-toxic. It is used for preserves and semi-preserves, but it guarantees perfect preservation of foodstuffs such as meat aspic, fish in oil, soups, etc. for long periods, because the tin is covered with natural paints.

These types of containers are prone to corrosion when exposed to weather agents or very aggressive products, for this reason our company Polsinelli sells thermoplastic packs.

Tinplate has evolved over the years and is now made as follows:

1. In a bath of steel sulphate acid, it is covered with metallic tin by electrolysis;
2. It is then polished with a high-temperature treatment of approximately 260 °C and then cooled rapidly to allow the tin-iron alloy to adhere to the coating;
3. the next stage is passivation, which is another electrochemical process, and leads to the formation of a film of tin and chromium oxides;
4. the last stage is oiling, to ensure protection of the tinplate.
